Release notes for SNP vegetation association map
Version 1.1
Hyperspectral mapping algorithms were re-run with the following inputs:
- Image spectra extracted from 305 vegetation field plots used by VANHP to define 34 vegetation associations. Spectra were extracted for plot location and 3 additional plot locations surrounding the plot to account for spatial registration errors in imagery and GPS locations.
- Park boundary GIS file updated for changes since v1.0 mapping. Final maps were clipped to new boundary
- Geology map of Gathright (1976) replaced with bedrock and surficial geology maps from Morgan et al. (2004) in model runs. These maps more closely follow current nomenclature for the geology of SNP. We combined bedrock and surficial layers for a map of likely soil parent material.
- Topographic gradient layers recomputed for new park boundary and used as input to model.
- Model output filtered to remove "speckle" by passing a 40m-radius (05.hectare area ) mean filter over probability images for each class, and re-combining generalized probabilities into final map of maximum class probability.
