Bane Schill National Fish Health Research Laboratory, 1700 Leetown Road, Kearneysville, WV 25430 Recent outbreaks of whirling disease in wild fish populations have fostered a revitalized interest in the biology and control of Myxobolus cerebralis. I report a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method for the sensitive detection of parasitic infection in tubificid worms and fish.
